Youth For A Positive Image Scholarship

Since 2001, Youth For A Positive Image has awarded 32 scholarships ranging from $500 - $2,000 to high school seniors for over $29,000 who meet the following criteria:

  • Complete Application (Application)
  • Have Two Recommendation letters 
  •  Interview with Board members
  •  Official high school transcript (most recent) with cumulative GPA
  •  Essay (minimum of 750 words)topic essay on your experience working with a nonprofit organization. 
  •  Applicants will be notified by mail of the scholarship committee?s decision.

Recipients of the scholarship award will be made directly to the college or university the recipient is attending at the start of the academic year.  The scholarship recipient will be asked to supply a verification of enrollment from the appropriate college or university before the scholarship payment will be processed.   

Scholarship Applications available for high school seniors the deadline is March 4th, 2013.

Criteria

 Eligibility Criteria 

1.         Candidate must be a graduating high school senior.

2.         Candidates must have at least a 2.5-higher high school grade point average (assuming a scale of A=4.0).

3.         Candidates must plan to attend a college or university on a full-time basis in a 2 or more year program.

 Selection Criteria

Candidates will be chosen on the basis of the following selection criteria with the following weighting:

 1.        Academic potential – 40%

2.        Leadership – 30%

3.        Community Service—30%


 Additional Guidelines

1.        Scholarship awards shall be paid directly to the college or university that the recipient(s) shall be attending.

2.        Awards may be used for the recipients’ tuition and books only.

 

Scholarship Dinner

It's that time of year! We're in the final stages of determining our scholarship winner, and preparing a dinner in honor of not only his achievements, but the achievements of others in the community. 

Youth For A Positive Image has been hosting the Scholarship Dinner for 12 years now, and consider the dinner an important way to express to the child that their efforts are being noticed. We ask that people in the community attend, and acknowledge the best of future for where they are going, and what they are going to achieve.
